Riau Governor Reminds Regions To Stay Ready For Central Isolation Places Even Though COVID-19 Cases Decline

PEKANBARU - Riau Governor, Syamsuar, reminded all regencies/cities to remain alert for centralized isolation places even though positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province declined.

"Don't because it's gone down, change again. When it's up, do it again. Don't be like that, keep the centralized self-isolation ready at any time so that if there is a spike there won't be a problem", said Syamsuar at the Balai Pauh Janggi Regional building in Pekanbaru, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25

Syamsuar said that some time ago during a visit to several areas, his party conveyed to the regents and mayors that the existing self-isolation places should not be changed.

In addition, regents and mayors were asked to intensively disseminate health protocol discipline because the process is one of the efforts to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. It is better to continue to be vigilant and counseling should not stop at the bottom.

"Currently, health protocols must become a habit in everyday life. For this reason, with discipline, apply health protocols as an effort so that the available isolation places are no longer used optimally", he said.

"Rest assured that if we obey the health protocols, our efforts to take care and avoid things we don't expect can suppress the spread of COVID-19. All people must continue to be vigilant. Health protocols must be made a habit of daily life. And conducting counseling and socialization must be done. carried out non-stop to the community regarding health protocols", said Syamsuar.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Riau Provincial Health Office, Mimi Yuliani Nazir, explained that the decline in confirmed cases of COVID-19 could be seen from the decline in daily cases, the recovery rate, and the occupancy of beds in hospitals was now 40 percent. While the current cure rate is 90.4 percent. For the ICU, it is currently in the range of 60 percent filled.

"There is an increase of 0.2 percent compared to before the spike in COVID-19 cases related to the number of deaths. The death rate is high from 2.7 percent to 2.9 percent. Therefore reducing this death rate requires the role of the community, namely people who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 immediately taken to the hospital for those with moderate or severe symptoms cannot be detained at home, and go straight to the hospital", he said.

However, residents with mild symptoms may choose to self-isolate at home if possible or isolate themselves in a centralized place that has been prepared by the government.

"Mild or asymptomatic symptoms can be self-isolated if possible at home if it is feasible or centralized isolation prepared by the government. There are procedures, so that transmission does not occur to other family members. If symptoms persist, they can be taken to the hospital.
