Fast Action Police Investigate Allegations Of Blasphemy By Muhammad Kece Before Big Upheavals

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) of the National Police moved quickly to handle the alleged blasphemy case involving YouTuber Muhammad Kece. This fast action seemed to prevent the upheaval in the community over the case.

In the process of handling, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the status of this case had been upgraded from an investigation to an investigation. Thus, a suspect will be identified.

"Investigators are stepping up this case from investigation to investigation," Ramadhan told reporters, Tuesday, August 24.

The increase in the status of this case into an investigation, continued Ramadhan, because investigators considered the evidence collected was sufficient enough to convince the occurrence of a criminal violation.

"Investigators have found sufficient initial evidence. So that investigators increase (the status of the case)," said Ramadhan.

Moreover, the evidence was strengthened by expert examination. At least, linguists and religious experts have been questioned about the case.

"Investigators have examined the complainants, also examined expert witnesses, including IT experts, Indonesian language experts, and religious law experts," said Ramadhan.

The quick steps of investigators to increase the alleged blasphemy case also seemed to prevent the occurrence of turmoil in the community that was getting bigger. Because, on Twitter social media alone, the hashtag #SegeraTangkapMkece has appeared.

One of the urges came from the @Nakal***** account. "Don't let demonstrations go on for volumes because of this creature. We Muslims just need justice. How many times do you want to wait for a new report to be processed?" he tweeted.

Responding to the turmoil, Ramadhan said the alleged blasphemy case had been processed according to regulations.

"Police are processing according to existing rules. Everything is being processed," he said.

Therefore, Ramadan appeals to the public to remain calm, not to create unnecessary turmoil. Because this problem has been handled properly.

"Yes, if that's the case, we urge the public to be calm," said Ramadhan.
