Harun Masiku's Location Claims Are Tracked, KPK Deputy For Enforcement And Execution: I Have A Passion To Arrest If Ordered

JAKARTA - The Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Karyoto claims to have learned of the whereabouts of former PDI-P candidate Harun Masiku who is a fugitive in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of DPR members.

Karyoto even said that his party was eager to immediately arrest the fugitive.

"I am very eager to arrest if ordered. At that time, the Chairman had ordered, 'you go' but the opportunity was not there yet," said Karyoto in a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Tuesday, August 24.

Karyoto said that the fugitive, who is now on the Interpol NCB red notice list, is no longer in Indonesia but abroad. This is what confuses the KPK to make arrests, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening.

"The place is not inside (the country, ed). We want to go there and we are confused because of how many years the pandemic has been," said Karyoto.

According to him, the information on Harun Masiku's whereabouts did not come from one of the investigators who was busy in the media, namely Harun Al Rasyid. Moreover, from the start, Harun and the other task forces that handled this case already knew where the fugitive was.

"Before Harun Al Rasyid shouted, I knew the place. I knew the place because almost the same information that was conveyed by our colleague, Harun with the information we had, was the same," said Karyoto.

It's just that due to this pandemic, Karyoto continued, they have not been able to move to arrest Harun. He conveyed this to refute public opinion that the KPK was unable to arrest Harun Masiku.

"No one wants to do this at all, as long as the person concerned exists and it can be confirmed that A1 exists," he said.

"I'm ready to go if I can reach the place. It's unethical and we shouldn't open it here because if he finds out we're looking for where he'll move again, we'll be confused again," added Karyoto.

It was previously reported that Harun Masiku was named a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan in January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could easily sit as a member of the DPR through interim shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

It's just that Aaron, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.
