Even Though Jakarta PPKM Drops To Level 3, The Odd-Even Scheme Still Applies

JAKARTA - Ditlantas Metro Jaya Police continues to implement the odd-even scheme to limit people's mobility. Although, the PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) level in the Jabodetabek area has been lowered to level 3.

"Tomorrow it will still apply odd-even", said Director of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, to reporters, Monday, August 23.

The odd-even implementation will continue, said Sambodo, while waiting for a decision from the coordination meeting of the relevant parties. It is planned that the coordination meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 24.

"While waiting for the results of the coordination meeting with the relevant stakeholders, which I plan to carry out tomorrow", said Sambodo.

In addition, the implementation of the odd-even scheme will also await the decision of the Minister of Home Affairs. Where the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs become the basis for implementing PPKM.

"While waiting for the latest instructions from the Minister of Home Affairs regarding PPKM level 3," said Sambodo.

The odd-even scheme applies from 06.00 WIB to 20.00 WIB. This scheme is implemented at 8 points, including Sudirman Street, MH Thamrin Street, Merdeka Barat Street, Majapahit Street, Gajah Mada Street, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Pintu Besar Selatan Street, and Gatot Subroto Street.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) extended the PPKM in Java and Bali. But for the Jabodetabek agglomeration area and several regencies/cities, the PPKM level dropped to level 3.

"The government has decided that starting from August 24 to August 30, 2021, some regions can be lowered from level 4 to level 3. Java and Bali islands, the agglomeration areas of Greater Jakarta, Greater Bandung, Greater Surabaya, and several other cities/district areas can already be at level 3. starting on August 24", said Jokowi in the announcement of the PPKM extension via the Presidential Secretariat Youtube, Monday, August 23.

According to Jokowi, there has been quite good progress in handling COVID-19 in Java and Bali regarding the PPKM level.

“There has been a pretty good development at level 4 from 67 regencies/cities, which has been reduced to 51 regencies/cities. Level 3 from 59 regencies/cities to 67 regencies/cities. Level 2 from 2 regencies/cities, to 10 regencies/cities," Jokowi continued.
