'Jobless' Is A Factor Causing The Rise Of Narcotics Circulation

JAKARTA - Head of BNN RI Petrus Reinhard Golose stated that the widespread circulation of narcotics was due to many jobless (unemployment) so that people were blind to running the illicit business.

"Many jobless are one of the factors that many people can't get a job. With a little capital they can sell narcotics of methamphetamine type," said the Head of BNN RI to reporters, Saturday, August 21.

The Head of the National Narcotics Agency further detailed that the price of methamphetamine type narcotics is different in each province of Indonesia.

"The price of one province with another province is different. The price of methamphetamine varies, the price is different in each province of Indonesia," he said.

These narcotics networks are from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan. Narcotics syndicates also control the so-called golden crescent.

"Now the Taliban have controlled Afghanistan. Narcotics syndicates also control the circulation of what is called the golden crescent," he said.

He even said that before Afghanistan fell, the government (Afghanistan) could not intervene with many goods (narcotics) that fell (transit). "This is only a syndicate, not from the country. This is from the Golden Triangle," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) together with Customs and Excise thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics by a Thai and Acehnese syndicate network, Thursday, August 19, yesterday.

From the results of the disclosure, BNN confiscated 324.3 kilograms of evidence of methamphetamine.

The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) and Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009 with a maximum threat of the death penalty.
