Drug Dealer Tactics To Trick The Police, Using Women As Couriers

SUKABUMI - The network of drug dealers continues to innovate to fool the police in order to smooth the circulation of these illicit goods. One of them is by using women as couriers.

This was revealed by Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Dedy Darmawansyah during a press conference at the Sukabumi Police Headquarters, West Java, Friday, August 20.

"Like several cases of illicit drug trafficking, which we revealed, it turned out that the perpetrators were women, after an examination they were assigned to be couriers," said Dedy as quoted by Antara.

Sukabumi Police in the last six months (March-August 2021) have named 88 suspects of drug dealers and abusers and illegal hard drugs. Nine of them are women.

Deddy said, these 9 women were assigned to be couriers by the city. In detail, 5 women became shabu-shabu couriers and the rest were illegal drug couriers. They were arrested while trying to distribute methamphetamine and illegal hard drugs.

The police never tire of urging residents to actively assist in preventing drug trafficking. Including the very important role of the family as a bulwark of prevention.

"Let's fight drug trafficking together, don't let our families become victims because in addition to threatening the future and being ensnared by the law, the lives of users are also threatened," he added.

On the other hand, judging from the disclosure of drug cases by the Sukabumi Police, the circulation of illicit goods in the second largest district on the island and Bali can be said to be still high. In the last six months (March-August 2021) there were 67 cases.

The evidence confiscated from the perpetrators were 2,017.68 grams of dry marijuana, 209 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 23 grams of synthetic tobacco, 8.75 grams of synthetic tobacco, seven ecstasy narcotics, and 29,486 hard drugs.

Meanwhile, nine women who were drug couriers, five suspects were charged with Article 114 and/or Article 111 and/or Article 112, RI Law Number 35 of 2009 with the threat of a minimum prison sentence of four years for being involved in the case of shabu-shabu distribution.

The other four suspects were charged with Articles 196 and 197 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health with a penalty of 15 years in prison for being a courier for illegal hard drugs.
