Warning For Bangka Belitung, ICU Occupancy In Hospitals Is 95 Percent

JAKARTA - Head of the Data and Information Technology Division of the COVID-19 Task Force, Dewi Nur Aisyah, highlighted that Bangka Belitung province has the highest ICU occupancy this week, even almost all hospital ICUs are full.

"Bangka Belitung's highest is above 95 percent, but we have to understand how many ICU beds there are, there are not necessarily many beds, it could be that the beds are few so that they are full", Dewi said in a BNPB Indonesia Youtube show, quoted on Thursday, August 19.

Then, other provinces with high ICU occupancy are East Kalimantan which has reached 83.54 percent, Bali has reached 77.89 percent, Riau 76.11 percent, and West Sumatra 75.33 percent.

Nationally, Dewi said 18 provinces have bed occupancy that has passed the WHO threshold of 60 percent.

Dewi asked the local government to make this an alarm in preparation for the surge in cases so that the recovery rate can be increased and the transmission rate is suppressed.

"Still have to be careful, keep pressing the case, this means that the symptoms are moderate to critical in the ICU, we are still seeing above 60 but still below 80 it means a warning, medical equipment, and medicine are prepared, because this patient in the ICU who need intensive care", she explained.

Meanwhile, the highest occupancy for COVID-19 isolation beds was in Bali with 75.55 percent occupancy, East Kalimantan 64.47 percent, Central Sulawesi 63.5 percent, and South Kalimantan 62.44 percent.

A total of 23 other provinces have isolation beds occupancy between 30-59 percent and 7 other provinces have isolation beds below 30 percent.
