JAKARTA - The survey results from Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) noted that the level of public trust in law enforcement institutions and agencies is still low. In fact, the percentage is around 50 percent.

"The level of public trust in law enforcement agencies is not too high, although those who believe are still above 50 percent", said SMRC Research Director, Deni Irvani, in a statement, Thursday, August 19.

Deni detailed that the level of trust in the court is quite high, reaching 61 percent. Meanwhile, the rest did not believe and did not comment.

"There is still 35 percent who lack or do not believe. The rest, 4 percent of residents can not give an assessment", said Deni.

For the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), it is recorded that people who believe in its performance have reached 60 percent. Then, the level of trust in the Police is only 58 percent.

"Only 60 percent of residents trust this institution (KPK). There is 36 percent of residents who admit that they lack or do not trust the KPK, and there is 4 percent who cannot give an assessment", said Deni.

"Similarly with the police agency, there are 58 percent of residents who believe and 38 percent who don't believe it", he continued.

Lastly, SMCR also noted that only 59 percent of residents believed in the performance of the prosecutor's office. Thus, the level or percentage of distrust is quite high, namely 36 percent.

"The survey using this telephone was conducted from July 31 to August 2, 2021, with 1000 randomly selected respondents", he said.

On the other hand, Deni said there are still many people who do not believe in the current law enforcement process. Because, as many as 41.2 percent assess the performance of law enforcement agencies and institutions is still poor.

"The majority of citizens, 53 percent, think that there is more corruption in our country than last year. Only 8 percent think it's getting less, and 31 percent think it's the same. 8 percent didn't answer", said Deni.
