The Viral Case Files Of Truck Drivers In Padang Delegated To Prosecutors

JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Regional Police (Polres) immediately transferred a case of alleged illegal levies against truck drivers in Padang City which went viral on social media to the prosecutor's office.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the West Sumatra Police Kombes Imam Kabut Sariadi said that currently officers are still conducting investigations and today it will be completed, then tomorrow it will be delegated to the prosecutor's office.

"We continue to work so that extortion cases with threats of violence from a man named Izet can be processed according to existing regulations," he said in Padang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, August 18.

For this case, the investigator suspects Article 368 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) paragraph 1 which explains that anyone with the intention of benefiting himself with the threat of violence to give something that wholly or partly belongs to that person or another person or to make a debt or write off receivables, are threatened with extortion with a maximum imprisonment of nine years.

"We hope that this case is complete and the prosecutor's office accepts it for further processing," he hoped.

Previously, the West Sumatra Police arrested the perpetrator of the burglary of a truck driver in the PT Semen Padang area who claimed to be named Izet after the video went viral on social media on Thursday, July 15 in Tanah Datar Regency.

The West Sumatra Police themselves took over the case of violence against truck drivers in the Indarung area by a man named Izet which went viral through video uploads on social media.

He explained that after learning that the video had gone viral, the Extortion Task Force under the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Sumatra Police immediately moved to collect information.

After receiving directions from the West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Toni Harmanto, his party immediately formed an Opsnal Team to pursue the perpetrators.

"I saw the video of the burglary accompanied by violence and threats and we gave chase," he said.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator of the blaming, threats and violence, Izet apologized to all parties due to the actions he had taken against the Semen Padang truck driver which went viral through social media videos.

"I apologize to the driver I hit. I am sorry and will not repeat it again," he said

He said he promised himself he would never do that again.

According to him, while on the run he could not see social media and was very depressed because the video went viral.

"I can't watch the video, it was my mistake. I'm sorry," he said quietly.
