Airlangga: Centralized Patient Isolation Reduces COVID-19 Death Rate

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the centralized isolation established by the government so that it can handle patients optimally can cut the chain of transmission of COVID-19.

"The existence of this centralized isolation aims to cut the COVID-19 chain, especially to reduce the death rate," said Airlangga, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 14.

The establishment of a centralized isolation place for COVID-19 patients was carried out because of the awareness that not all people have adequate home conditions to separate patients from family members.

Airlangga also visited several centralized isolation places in Klaten Regency, Central Java Province, namely the Degreesena Gymnasium and Panti Semedi to ensure the health services provided to COVID-19 patients.

Degreesena GOR is a centralized isolation place for men while Panti Semedi is a centralized isolation place for women, pregnant women, and children.

In addition to health facilities, this centralized isolation is also supported by indoor sports facilities to wifi and LED TV facilities which are important aspects to reduce the stress level of patients undergoing isolation.

Airlangga handed over assistance in the form of frozen chicken meat and 1.1 tons of eggs each to the Regent of Klaten Sri Mulyani which would be distributed to patients who were in isolation.

Airlangga also handed over a number of aids in the form of 500 kilograms of frozen chicken meat, 500 kilograms of chicken eggs, 10,000 food packages, 20,000 masks, and 100 oxygen concentrators.

Airlangga ensured that the government together with the TNI and Polri will continue to monitor the development of the situation in each region on a regular basis and respond quickly to the dynamics that occur in the field.

"Not only Klaten Regency. All regions including Central Java Province are the government's attention in handling COVID-19. All provinces have entered the national program," he said.
