JAKARTA - In the implementation of the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) regulations during the mid-week of COVID-19, many people have switched to using bicycles as a means of daily transportation. However, this is actually used by a few people to commit crimes.

One of the cyclists who became victims was Adam Surya Wijaya. At that time, Adam was cycling to his house in the Ciganjur area, South Jakarta, after exercising in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

However, while crossing Jalan Panglima Polim, South Jakarta, Adam was forcibly stopped by two people riding a motorbike. In fact, one of them immediately pointed his gun sharply.

The victim did not want to comply with the perpetrators' request to hand over her cellphone. However, Adam was stabbed in the stomach. After that, the perpetrators took away their cellphones and immediately ran away.

After the incident, Adam reported it to the police. Based on the reports and examination of witnesses and CCTV cameras, the police immediately investigated in order to catch the perpetrators.

"From the investigation we got the identity of the suspected perpetrator. Then a chase was carried out," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, Sunday, June 21.

Two days later, bright spots about the whereabouts of the perpetrators began to appear. This is because the police involve the perpetrator's parents to find his whereabouts.

Until finally, the suspect with the identity of Yusup alias Bengkeng was arrested at Jalan Pandan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Furthermore, the police were looking for the victim's cellphone which would be used as evidence.

From the results of the examination, the cellphone was said to be in the hands of another suspect. So, the police immediately searched for his whereabouts and managed to find him.

"The evidence was found in the possession of a person named Fauzi. So that the person concerned was secured and examined," said Yusri.

However, from the investigation process, Fauzi admitted that he was only entrusted by the suspect Ilham, who acted as the executor of the crime. For this reason, the police are still being hunted for their existence.

"Based on Fauzi's statement, the suspect was entrusted with the cellphone. Ilham is currently being hunted for its whereabouts," Yusri concluded.
