Considered Effective In Healing COVID-19 Patients, DPR Asks Minister Of Health To Immediately Do A Clinical Trial Of Ivermectin

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR), Saleh Partaonan Daulay, urged the health ministry to immediately complete clinical trials of the drug ivermectin. Because some Japanese scientists called Saleh to admit that ivermectin can be used as an alternative treatment for COVID-19.

"Today I read the news that Japanese scientists have used ivermectin for initial treatment for those exposed to COVID-19. As a result, ivermectin is considered very effective for curing people who are exposed to it", Saleh said in a statement received by VOI, Friday, August 13.

According to him, it is necessary to immediately conduct clinical trials of ivermectin. Thus, the use of ivermectin as a COVID-19 drug can be justified academically

The chairman of the PAN Party faction in the DPR emphasized that this clinical trial could not be delayed considering that the spread of the COVID-19 virus with its various variants was still high in Indonesia.

"We do not see who the manufacturer is. What is required is how to make the drug available. Because many people need it. Therefore, this drug should not be scarce", said Saleh.

"If there is a producer who is deemed to have violated, yes, please be resolved by Food and Drugs Supervisory Agency (BPOM). If it can't be brought to order, just leave it. Please look for another producer who can meet all existing provisions", he continued.

Saleh recalled, in the presentation of the Minister of Health at the House of Representatives Commission IX, ivermectin was referred to as one of the drugs used to treat COVID-19. Of course, he said, the exposure needs to be supported by clinical trials so that its use can be more official.

"Regarding the procurement of COVID-19 drugs, we cannot be careless. We must pursue so that treatment efforts for those who are exposed can be maximized", he said.

"I see that there is no real intention in dealing with the scarcity of this drug. I think this can be an entry point to show the seriousness of the government", added the North Sumatran legislator.

Previously, Dr. Kazuhiro Nagao (63), Chairman of the medical company Yuwakai, director (Head) of Nagao Amagasaki Clinic, Hyogo prefecture, and visiting professor at Kansai University of International Studies strongly recommends Ivermectin as a drug that can cure early patients infected with the coronavirus.

"Our current medical condition is in an almost critical condition and many patients cannot be accommodated in the hospital. For patients who initially contracted the coronavirus, it is highly recommended to take Ivermectin. I have tried many of my patients and recovered", said Dr. Nagao, quoted from NTV, Friday, August 13.

Professor Nagao also sees the drug Ivermectin as one of the solutions among many efforts to reduce the number of people infected with the corona and at risk of becoming seriously ill.
