JAKARTA - Twitter has just introduced changes to its website version. The company plans to make the site more accessible, and look more presentable.
The most notable change today is Twitter's implementation of a new font dubbed Chrip. The first time, Chrip was introduced in January as Twitter's first typeface. In the past, the company relied on fonts like SF Pro, Roboto, and Helvetica Neue for its brand.
Cited from TechCrunch, Thursday 12 August, Chirp's goal in addition to giving Twitter its own form of visual expression is, to offer a typeface that is sharp and legible for everyday use, but also one that allows for more personality, including when moved or used for advertising.
However, at the time of its debut, Twitter had not yet committed to making Chirp a typeface for its broader product line, but Twitter's global brand creative director, Derrit DeRouen, said that he would launch it soon according to his personal preference.
Today, Twitter makes Chirp a core part of its new Twitter website, as well as iOS and Android devices, including the mobile web. Not only Chrip, but Twitter is also aligning all Western-language text to the left, which the company says will make it easier to read as users scroll.
Fonts aren't the only visual changes introduced. A new color palette will also be rolling out soon for more contrast, as are the buttons. Tweets and navigation have now turned black when using Twitter's default theme with a white background.
"We've updated our colors to high contrast and much less blue, a change made to draw attention to the photos and videos you create and share", said @TwitterDesign as quoted by The Verge.
The company promises to launch a new color in the near future. Users who subscribe to the Twitter Blue service can already change the color of the app and change the color of the app icon, although this service is only available for iOS in Canada and Australia.
