TABANAN - The search for a Russian who got lost on Mount Sang Hyang, Tabanan Regency, Bali, finally paid off. Russian Caucasian named Igor (27) was found safe at an altitude of 1.880 meters above sea level.

"Earlier, the joint SAR team found the target at 18.15 p.m. local time, then evacuated via the climbing route in Pujungan Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan", said Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas Bali) Gede Darmada, Monday, August 9.

After successfully evacuating, the Russian was taken to the Penebel Police Station, Tabanan, Bali. The SAR operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning at 03.15 a.m. local time by deploying 13 personnel from the Bali National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Samapta Bali Regional Police along with local guides.

"In the afternoon we added personnel from the Buleleng SAR Post and the Bali Jimbaran Basarnas Office with a total of 13 rescuers", he said.

This Russian made the ascent on Sunday, August 8 at 08.00 a.m. local time with two of his colleagues.

The journey begins through the Banjar Dinas Gunung Sari Uma Kayu, Jati Luwih Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency. After climbing 1.5 kilometers, the other two were exhausted and decided to head back. At 14.00 p.m. local time, the two climbers arrived at Villa Padi, Gianyar Regency where they were staying.

The request for assistance was received by the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas Bali) at 00:55 a.m. local time, Monday, August 9.

"According to reports, the target had conveyed a message via WA that he had arrived at the top of the mountain at approximately 17:00 p.m. local time, but did not know the way back", said Gede Darmada.

He revealed that the condition of Mount Sang Hyang has the characteristics of dense vegetation, especially in the rainy season. So it is advisable not to do the climb alone or at least use a local guide and bring equipment for the climbing.
