After The Commotion of Rp2 Trillion Donation By Akidi Tio, Chinese Residents Hand Over Rp2 Billion In Aid To The South Sumatra Police

PALEMBANG - People of Chinese descent in Palembang City handed over aid in the form of rice and other goods worth Rp2 billion to the South Sumatra Police to help people affected by COVID-19.

aid in the form of 150 tons of rice, 150 tons of oxygen, and 1,250 antigen swab test kits were handed over by representatives of the coordinators of the United Chinese Community to the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Eko Indra Heri S at the Police Headquarters ceremonial field, Palembang, Friday, August 6.

The South Sumatra Police Chief expressed his gratitude to the United Chinese Community who have provided aid to communities whose economies have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This aid is very beneficial for the community because it can ease the burden of meeting the needs of daily life, make it easier to get oxygen for people who are undergoing self-isolation, and carry out tests to determine whether they are exposed to COVID-19.

"This aid is really needed by the community in the current pandemic conditions, hopefully, other communities can follow suit," he said, quoted by Antara.

The mandate of the aid will be handed over to the people in Palembang City and other areas of South Sumatra who really need it.

The distribution of aid involves personnel in 17 regional units within the province with standard health protocols to anticipate the spread of COVID-19, said the Police Chief.

In addition to aid from the Chinese community, the South Sumatra Police also received CSR aid from PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk in the form of rice worth Rp500 million.

The aid for the people of South Sumatra affected by the COVID-19 pandemic was handed over by the President Director of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk, Irwan Hidayat to the Police Chief, Inspector General Indra Heri in a virtual/online event attended by a number of Regional Police officials, religious leaders, and Palembang community leaders.
