JAKARTA - Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Bengkulu Police have named the former treasurer of the Bengkulu Province Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) with the initials F as a suspect. F is suspected of stealing the 2020 grant amounting to Rp15 billion.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bengkulu Police, Kombes Sudarno, said that the determination of F as a suspect was the result of the development of the previous suspect, namely the former chairman of the Bengkulu Province KONI, Mufran Imron.

"It is true that investigators have added one more suspect in the alleged corruption case of the Bengkulu KONI grant fund, namely the former treasurer, so there are currently two suspects," said Sudarno in Bengkulu, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 5.

Based on the results of the investigation, the police found a state loss of Rp. 11 billion from the total KONI grant for Bengkulu Province in 2020 of Rp. 15 billion.

Investigators found indications of suspect F's involvement in the case based on the statements of several witnesses, including the testimony of the former head of the Bengkulu Province KONI, Mufran Imron.

F's involvement in the misappropriation of the grant funds was also known from several documents confiscated by the police in a number of places during a search.

"He is the treasurer, so he knows the entry and exit of money, including the uses of the 2020 grant," said Sudarno.

Investigators ensnared F with articles 2 and 3 of Law (UU) Number 20 of 2021 regarding the crime of eradicating corruption junto article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Furthermore, said Sudarno, investigators will immediately complete the case file for suspect F to be transferred to the prosecutor's office, including completing the case file for suspect Mfran Imron which was previously returned by the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office.

"We will immediately complete the files for the two suspects and immediately hand them over to the prosecutor's office. For suspect F, no arrests have been made yet," said Sudarno.
