Authority-ADB Strengthen Synergy In Accelerating IKN Development, Focus On These Three Pillars

JAKARTA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held a meeting at the IKN Authority office, Jakarta, Monday, November 25.

This meeting aims to discuss synergies related to the support and collaboration that ADB has carried out and is currently underway regarding various aspects of development at IKN.

Director of ADB for Indonesia Jiro Tominaga discussed the potential for further support.

Including funding for the development of affordable and inclusive basic infrastructure, development of urban areas that are in line with nature and inclusive economic growth for all groups.

Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, also appreciated the collaboration that has been established so far.

"We welcome the support from ADB for making a big contribution in supporting the acceleration of Nusantara development," Basuki said as quoted from the IKN official website, Tuesday, November 26.

The collaboration between the IKN Authority and ADB focuses on the three main pillars.

The first pillar is the planning and design of IKN to become a smart and sustainable forest city as the Government of the Republic of Indonesia aspires to.

The second pillar includes efforts to limit the negative impact on the environment due to massive development.

The third pillar is funding mobilization to ensure IKN development can run sustainably.

It is known, since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in May 2023, ADB has provided support of US$5 million or equivalent to Rp75 billion in the form of technical assistance and experts.

Basuki assessed that this support shows ADB's commitment to assisting the Indonesian government in the development of an inclusive and sustainable IKN.

In the future, the IKN Authority is expected to be able to submit a proposal to Bappenas regarding the readiness criteria for strategic projects that will be implemented with a loan scheme in a bluebook.

"Cooperation between the IKN Authority and ADB is a real step in creating IKN as a new center of government that is modern, inclusive and environmentally friendly," he concluded.
