Central Java Starts Injecting Booster Vaccines With Moderna For Health Workers

SEMARANG - The Central Java Provincial Government has started to carry out booster vaccinations or injections of the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine for health workers.

"Already, the booster vaccination with the Moderna vaccine for health workers has started. Earlier at Dr. Kariadi Hospital, it has started, hopefully, other areas will follow soon", said Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo in Semarang quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 4.

Ganjar said that Moderna's third dose of vaccine is ready to be sent to all regencies/cities in Central Java, some regions have even taken it.

Related to this, Ganjar asked the district/city governments, especially the respective Health Offices, to prepare a vaccine storage area or cold chain.

According to Ganjar, Moderna's vaccine treatment is very different from existing vaccines such as Sinovac or AstraZeneca. Moderna vaccine, he continued, must be stored at a temperature of minus 15-20 degrees Celsius.

"I remind you because this requires a special cold chain, so I ask the region to prepare it. Don't let the quality decrease so I ask for it to be prepared properly. Those who are ready and have cold chain facilities, I ask for it to be immediately taken and injected", he said.

In addition to booster vaccinations, Ganjar said that there were also a large number of vaccine shipments for Central Java, and a few days ago, his party received 600,000 doses of vaccine.

"Vaccine shipments have started a lot to Central Java. So now we are accelerating, the main priority remains the elderly, later after those other communities, including these students", he said.
