Former Ministry Of Religion Official Sued Two Years In Prison For Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) demanded that the former Head of the General Section of the Directorate General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion, Invite Sumantri for 2 years in prison for participating in corruption in the procurement of computer laboratories and communication systems and integrated learning media at the Ministry of Religion in 2011.

The public prosecutor (JPU), Heradian Salipi, at the Jakarta Corruption Court, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, August 3, also demanded that the Samantri Law pay a fine of IDR 100 million, subsidiary to 2 months in prison in this corruption case that cost the state IDR 23.636 billion.

"So that the panel of judges at the Corruption Crime Court will issue a verdict, stating that the defendant Law Sumantri has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption. Sentencing the defendant with a prison sentence of 2 years and a fine of IDR 100 million, subsidiary of 2 months in prison", said Heradian.

Law is considered proven to have committed the second charge, namely violating Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program in eradicating corruption. The mitigating thing is that the defendant behaves politely during the examination at trial, has never been convicted, admits his actions openly, and does not gain personal benefits for his actions", added the prosecutor.

In this case, Invite Sumantri as Commitment Making Officer (PPK) at the Directorate General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religion in 2011 together with Affandi Mochtar as Signing Officer of the Payment Order (PPSPM), Abdul Kadir Alaydrus, Ahmad Maulana, Noufal as Deputy General Manager Business Service Regional I PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk is considered to have harmed the state finances of IDR 23.636 billion.

As a result of the Act together with Affandi Mochtar and Noufal in the implementation of the procurement of communication systems and integrated learning media for MTs and MA levels in 2011 has enriched several parties, namely (1) PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk amounting to Rp5,095 billion and (2) PT. Pramindo Ikat Nusantara (PT PINs) amounted to IDR 4.89 billion, causing state losses of IDR 9.986 billion.

The total state loss from the three projects is IDR 23.636 billion with details; enriching PT Cahaya Gunung Mas (using the company PT Batu Karya Mas) in the amount of IDR 13.65 billion; enrich PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk in the amount of IDR 5.095 billion and enriching PT Pramindo Ikat Nusantara (PT PINs) in the amount of IDR 4.89 billion
