Critical To The Government Regarding PPKM And Social Assistance, Puan Is Considered To Have Taken A Political Opportunity From Ganjar Pranowo

JAKARTA - A Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has recently been diligent in criticizing the government, especially regarding the handling of COVID-19. On the one hand, Puan's billboards have been widely displayed in almost all areas on the island of Java.

A political observer from Al Azhar University Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, assessed that Puan's critical attitude towards the government as part of an effort to seek public sympathy.

The reason is that his internal rival in the PDI Party, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, is currently active on social media during PPKM (Restrictions on Community Activities).

Puan, according to the Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review (IPR), is stepping on the gas to seize this opportunity.

“So Puan stepped on the gas when Ganjar couldn't do anything. This is a normal thing in politics", said Ujang, quoted on Tuesday, August 3.

Ujang thought that Puan had to take on the role of defending the interests of the community. On the other hand, if the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of PDIP follows the government's current, her electability will not increase.

Because, said Ujang, the current government is not liked by the public because of its unsatisfactory performance in dealing with COVID-19.

"A good and effective way is to be critical of the government. It must be like that. Because if you are still playing the government's game, Puan will be even more shipwrecked", said Ujang.
