Not Economics, Hundreds Of Divorce In Bukittinggi Due To Constant Disputes

JAKARTA - The Religious Courts Class IB Bukittinggi, West Sumatra recorded 471 divorce cases in the eastern city of Bukittinggi and Agam consisting of eight sub-districts, from early January to July 2021.

"A total of 471 divorce cases have occurred and have been registered with the Bukittinggi Religious Court since the beginning of the year, the details are 132 divorce cases and 339 divorce cases," said the Clerk of the Bukittinggi Class IB Religious Court, Muhammad Rafki, in Bukittinggi, as reported by Antara, Monday, 2 August.

He said that economic factors were not the main reason and the majority in the divorce case, but the problem of constant disputes and quarrels being the main causes at this time.

"Of the 471 divorce cases, 25 divorce cases have been withdrawn, 11 divorce cases have been revoked and the divorce court verdict has appealed for 274 cases," said Rafki.

He explained that the Bukittinggi Class IB Religious Court had so far received reports of 621 cases from 32 types of cases handled by the Religious Courts.

"We are passive, we have to accept all reports even though we are in a pandemic, we hope that in fact there are not many divorce cases or other cases in the households of our residents in Bukittinggi and its surroundings," he said. against the background of constant commotion, quarrels, also because of an affair with another ideal woman or another ideal man.

"The Religious Courts handle various cases other than divorce, such as cases of inheritance, polygamy, guardianship, child support, marriage Isbat or the determination of heirs and others," he said.

The Bukittinggi Class IB Religious Court is currently trying to upgrade its class to the same level as the Class IA Religious Courts in West Sumatra.

The Religious Court building, which is located adjacent to the Bukittinggi City Hall Office in Gulai Bancah, is also undergoing renovations to improve its services.
