DKI Deputy Governor Riza Patria's Hope: Jakarta Residents Obey The Rules Because They Are Aware, Not Because Of The Officials Tell Them So

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked Jakarta residents to obey the policies issued by the government without having to be monitored. Especially when it involves law enforcement officers.

"We want the citizens of Jakarta to obey not because there is an apparatus but because there is a need. Jakartans should have become smarter, more mature, and understand more about the rules and regulations. There should be no need for any policies taken to be presented by the apparatus. That's what we hope for DKI Jakarta", he said in a virtual interview, Saturday, July 31.

Furthermore, Riza wants Jakarta residents to understand the rules like people in developed cities. For example, by no longer littering and crossing the street carelessly.

"We see that in many countries it is no longer allowed to throw garbage, cross carelessly, there is no need for officers. We want Jakarta to be like developed cities in the world because of our shared awareness", he said.

As is known, the DKI Provincial Government through the Tourism and Creative Economy Office (Parekraf) has determined the number of activity violations during the PPKI period to carry out 4. One of them is allowing eating in places at warteg or street vendors (PKL) for a maximum of 20 minutes. Then, merchants and visitors must also have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Reflecting on these rules, Riza wants DKI Jakarta residents to obey. He asked the public to maintain strict health protocols. Because health is a need for everyone today.

"We encourage that we prove that even if there are no officers at wartegs or warungs, we ask the public to be fully aware of together to implement health protocols and implement Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) properly", he said.

For your information, Level 4 PPKM in Jakarta is valid from July 26 to August 2, 2021. After previously the government established an Emergency PPKM. This restriction on community activities aims to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases which is increasing.
