JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 and Ambassador for Behavior Change, Dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro, said that hoaxes or fake news are the main challenges faced by the community when vaccinating.

“Actually, when we talk about the challenges of vaccines, there are many challenges. But if the main challenge is from the community itself. Because what we face the most are hoaxes related to vaccines," said Reisa in the "Tuesday Spirit Dialogue" at the KPCPEN Media Center, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 27.

Reisa said that since the beginning of the pandemic, Indonesia had received as many as five thousand hoaxes related to vaccination activities carried out by the government.

To deal with the large number of hoax news circulating in the community, he provides a way on how to distinguish true news and hoax news.

“We have to know before we spread the news, we have to know whether this news is a hoax or not. Usually the news that is received if it is of such a nature is wrong, it is usually made 'lebay' like that. It's bombastic and there's no official reference or valid source,” said Reisa when explaining the first way to combat hoaxes about vaccines.

The second thing that must be done by the community is to open the website www.covid19.go.id or www.kemkes.go.id.

Reisa revealed, on the website www.covid19.go.id, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has created a special link for the hoax buster that can help the public validate whether the news is a hoax or not.

"Just enter the keyword related to vaccines, whatever the question, later news references will come out whether it's a hoax or not," he said.

The last way that Reisa conveyed was to always follow news or information from official sources. As stated by a government spokesman.
