Now The First Dose Of Vaccination In Jakarta Reaches Seven Million

JAKARTA – DKI Jakarta is one of the areas that is quite successful in implementing the accelerated vaccination program. As of Sunday, July 25, the first dose of vaccination for Jakarta residents has reached more than seven million people, to be exact, 7,050,648 people. That number does not include the Gotong Royong Vaccine program as many as 146,157 people.

"Currently in Jakarta, around 7.1 million people have received the first stage of vaccination and this is the result of collective work, various elements are involved, from the government, businessmen, to community organizations", said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan during a webinar on the Vaccination Movement at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Sunday.

Anies said that this data provides an encouraging picture, even though the percentage is only around 80 percent of the expected target. This is because this vaccination is more difficult than the provision of cash social assistance (BST) which only requires announcements and the public will come.

"As for vaccination, we have to work twice, the first is to organize the supply of equipment and vaccines and the second is to encourage people to come. Hopefully, the hope can be wider", said Anies.

To speed up vaccination in Jakarta, Anies set a daily target so that in one-day vaccination in Jakarta could reach 100 thousand people by moving RW/RT (Citizens Association) officers.

"So, each RW in each village (in total) must be able to vaccinate 100 thousand per day, in RW 100 people per day. That way, we can control the vaccination process to move on time", he said.

On the other hand, Anies also appreciated several parties who also worked hard in accelerating vaccination in Jakarta such as the TNI and Police who were involved in providing vaccines, as well as religious organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah which played a role in inviting citizens to be vaccinated.

"Hopefully this will be our collective effort in the fight against COVID-19 and the practice of all of us involved", said Anies.
