RIAU - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Dumai Police, Riau arrested four illegal logging perpetrators on the Dumai-Rohil Cross Road or at the PU Kanal RT004 intersection, Sungai Geniot Village. Four perpetrators were arrested, namely SO (32), SS (38) and MT (22) and MR (19).

Next, a black Daihatsu Rocky BM 9748 RF car took a cart loaded with more than 1.5 tons of wood which was carried by the perpetrators but could not show the legal documents for forest products.

"The perpetrators admitted that they were ordered by a man with the initials P (DPO) to take and transport the wood from the canal to P (DPO's) wood warehouse on Jalan Kaplingan RT 08 Basilam Baru Village, Sungai Sembilan District," said the Police Chief.

Another confession, the perpetrators also claimed to receive a wage of Rp. 150,000 per person. Regarding their involvement, the four perpetrators were charged with Article 83 paragraph (1) Letter (B) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation for Amendments to Law No. 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.

"They are threatened with Article 83 paragraph (1) letter (B), individuals who intentionally transport, control or own forest products that are not accompanied by a legal certificate of forest products," explained Andri.
