1.214 Self-Isolating Residents Passed Away, Deputy Governor Of DKI: We'll Check, Hopefully It's Not That Big

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that he did not know that there were 1.214 Jakarta residents who died while doing self-isolation (isoman) for COVID-19.

This data was disclosed by the LaporCovid-19 citizen coalition. Riza said that his party would check the accuracy of the data.

"We'll check the data later, I don't know the data myself. We'll check again, hopefully, it's not that big", Riza told reporters, Friday, July 23.

In principle, Riza said the DKI Provincial Government is trying to prepare services and facilities for COVID-19 patients, starting from hospitals, Wisma Atlet, flats, homestays, to hotels.

However, this still requires cooperation from the community. Communities, mass organizations, and community groups living in one environment must pay attention to the condition of other people who are undergoing independent isolation.

"The community itself must be unified, must be solid, help each other. If a family whose members are self-isolating, alone in the room, must be considered at all times. Do not let the situation be critical later", said Riza.

For information, LaporCovid-19 recorded 1.214 Jakarta residents who died while undergoing self-isolation due to exposure to the coronavirus. This data was monitored from June to July 2021.

"We just got data on deaths from self-isolation throughout Jakarta, since January until now. And when we sorted it out, in June and July alone there were 1.214 people", said LaporCovid-19 Initiator, Ahmad Arif in the YouTube Report Covid 19 show.

Arief explained, the high number of deaths of self-isolated patients in Jakarta is because the local government is relatively open with the data. "It doesn't mean that the self-isolation death rate in Jakarta is the highest, but it could be that other areas are higher just because the data we get in Jakarta is close to the real thing because this is the official data", he said
