This Is The Appearance Of More Than Rp9 Billion In Money, The Results Of The Prosecutor's Execution For The Village Fund Corruption Case In Jayawijaya

JAKARTA - The District Attorney's Office (Kejari) Jayawijaya, Papua Province, executed evidence of criminal acts of corruption in village funds (DD) amounting to Rp9,743,548 billion from the convict Viktor Aries Efendy.

Head of the Jayawijaya District Attorney's Office, Andre Abraham, in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, Thursday, said the evidence of cash that had been deposited into the state treasury was the result of a crime committed by a convict for misappropriating Tolikara Regency village funds in 2016.

"Evidence in the form of cash worth Rp9,743,548,000 is cash evidence from the proceeds of crime on behalf of the convict Viktor Aries Efendy which was confiscated by investigators," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, July 23.

Viktor was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption and money laundering which was carried out jointly based on the cassation decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1640 K/pidsus/2020, dated July 28, 2020.

"In the indictment, the public prosecutor sentenced the defendant to 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion against the defendant, with the stipulation that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with 6 months' imprisonment," he said.

Viktor Aries Efendy is the Director of PT Wholesale Era Mandiri as a service provider for the procurement of furniture, procurement of solar lights, water outboard motors, procurement of Kawasaki KLX motorcycles, and procurement of fiber water tanks.

This procurement was sourced from village funds belonging to the Tolikara Regency Government in 2016 amounting to Rp320,044,266,000 which was allocated for 541 villages, but in the implementation of the procurement it was not carried out according to the applicable provisions and the procurement of goods held by the convict, even though the funds had been disbursed 100 percent from the Tolikara Regional Treasury to the convict's account.

The defendant was also sentenced to pay replacement money in the amount of Rp128,174,847,000 provided that the replacement money must be paid no later than one month after the court's decision.

"If it is not paid, then the assets can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned to cover the replacement money, and if the convict does not have property is sufficient to pay the money instead, the defendant is sentenced to 13 years in prison," he said.
