Throughout 2021, Central Java Prosecutor's Office Handles 43 Corruption Cases

Head of the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office, Priyanto, in Semarang, Thursday, gave information about the achievements of the prosecutor's office throughout 2021.

JAKARTA - Head of the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office, Priyanto, said that as many as 43 corruption cases were handled, with state money saved from various corruption cases handling in this area reaching IDR 5 billion.

Priyanto explained that there were eight corruption cases and one money laundering crime handled by the Central Java Attorney General's Office.

"The other 34 cases are handled at the state attorney's office", he said.

Assistant for Special Crimes at the Central Java Prosecutor's Office, Eumurung Pandapotan Simaremare, added that several cases were currently being handled, namely allegations of corruption at BPR Bank Salatiga, BPR Brebes, and the procurement of cold storage in Rembang.

He stated that a series of investigations would still be carried out in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained that the process of examining witnesses and suspects had used an online application, to ensure transparency and accountability.

In addition, he said, the examination of witnesses was also not carried out by summoning the prosecutor's office.

He gave an example of handling cases of alleged corruption at BPR Brebes, investigators who came to Brebes to examine witnesses at their place of origin.
