JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko carried out a visit to residential areas, in Jakarta, Thursday, to distribute masks and at the same time invite the public to be disciplined in using masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moeldoko said the key to handling COVID-19 was to comply with health protocols in the form of discipline in wearing masks and implementing vaccinations.
"For this reason, the Presidential Staff Office invites all elements of society to comply with health protocols. Keep wearing masks everywhere," said Moeldoko when distributing masks during the 'Door to Door Movement' activity in Kebon Blank Village, Kemayoran, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, 22 July as the press release.
He said that the door-to-door movement was a collaborative effort between KSP and the private sector in distributing masks. KSP also encourages all parties such as mass organizations, women's activists, and other private sectors to contribute to this movement.
This movement to distribute medical masks is aimed at middle to lower-class economic residents in several cities such as Jabodetabek, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Jogjakarta, and Surabaya. Masks totaling 500,000 medical masks will be distributed to 220 other urban villages spread across 20 cities on the island of Java.
"This is a form of humanitarian collaboration between the government and the private sector for the community," said Moeldoko.
On that occasion, Moeldoko also said that efforts to fight against the dangerous virus COVID-19 must be carried out from and for the community collectively. He believes that the nation's resources are strong enough to support this people's movement, both in terms of logistics and funding.
Moeldoko also had time to rebuke several residents in RT 002/RW 05 in Kebon Blank Village who have not used masks while at the same time giving appreciation for those who have complied with wearing masks even though they are at home.
The distribution of medical masks with a door-to-door model of residents' houses was designed by KSP to be used as a model in implementing health protocols, especially in densely populated village areas.
The public is expected to be able to obtain quality medical masks without having to leave the house and create crowds.
"This model of distributing masks through the door-to-door movement by and for the community also emphasizes the importance of complying with health protocols. The government really appreciates the initiative from the private sector and social leaders in this joint effort," explained Moeldoko.
These free medical masks were produced by Aice Group for the humanitarian mission against the COVID-19 virus. According to him, this step is part of Penta Helix's efforts to involve the government, media, community, business, and academia to effectively inhibit the transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the public.
"Don't complain about looking for other people's weaknesses, we should not only discuss, not just argue but must focus on work, work, work," said Moeldoko.

He also encouraged all parties not to hesitate in providing assistance in the form of medical masks, food assistance and other assistance.
One example of a mutual cooperation initiative from the community is the presence of a soup kitchen that provides services in the form of free food for people who do self-isolation.
Moeldoko also took the time to visit one of the public kitchens initiated by residents of RW 01 in Rawasari Village, Central Jakarta.
The soup kitchen, which was founded by residents independently, also provides food for the general public on Friday, as a form of solidarity with others in the face of the pandemic.
“This kind of initiative is extraordinary. I encourage various parties to donate to self-help programs like this,” said Moeldoko.
