JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya "conjured" eight tons of sacrificial cows into ready-to-eat rendang to be distributed to Jakarta residents during Eid al-Adha.

The eight-ton rendang is part of the 200 cows donated by Polda Metro Jaya to be distributed to residents, including 80 slaughtered heads which are distributed to orphanages and the taklim assembly.

"Then the remaining eight tons I collaborate with several Padang restaurants in Jakarta in the form of rendang and I distribute it to houses of worship," said the Regional Police Chief of the Polda Metro Jaya, Inspector General Fadil Imran, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, July 19.

The rendang dish will later be distributed by monitoring officers at a number of isolation points in the Jakarta area to local residents during Eid al-Adha.

In the process, Fadil collaborated with a typical Padang restaurant and several Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to produce the rendang.

Not only rendang, officers will also distribute social assistance packages (Bansos) around the guard points.

This was also confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus on the same day.

However, Yusri did not specify the guard points and locations for distributing the banso packages, as well as the meat of the sacrificial animals.

"We are patrolling in places that we think are vulnerable while we also work together while distributing the existing social assistance," he said.

Yusri hopes that with this effort, the public will stop wandering around during Eid al-Adha so that there are no crowds in public places.
