Langsa Police Prevents Smuggling Of 213 Kilograms Of Marijuana

BANDA ACEH - The Langsa Police Team, Aceh, thwarted the smuggling of ten jute sacks containing cannabis-type narcotics weighing up to 213 kilograms.

Langsa Police Chief, AKBP Agung Kanigoro Nusantoro, said the marijuana smuggling attempt was foiled in front of the Birem Puntong Village Post, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City.

"In this action, an actor with the initials SH (29), a resident of Aceh Tamiang Regency was arrested. Meanwhile, his friend with the initials J managed to escape, Agung said, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.

The marijuana smuggling was revealed based on public information. The public reported that people were carrying large amounts of marijuana.

The person, he said, brought the prohibited goods by land using a four-wheeled vehicle that would pass through Langsa City.

Based on this information, he said, the Langsa Police team investigated it. Police raided vehicles passing in front of the Birem Puntong Village Post, Langsa Baro District.

Furthermore, on Friday, July 16 at around 18.00 WIB, the team saw a black minibus with the police number BK 1308 II trying to avoid the raid and turned towards Panglong Kayu around the post.

The police chief said that there were two men in the car. The two of them tried to escape towards the pond in the area.

Seeing this behavior, said the Police Chief, the police chased the two. The police arrested the perpetrator SH, while his friend with the initials J managed to escape. J is now on the wanted list (DPO).

"Officers searched the perpetrator's minibus and found ten gunny sacks in it containing 213 kilograms of marijuana. The officers also secured evidence of two mobile phones belonging to the perpetrator", continued AKBP Agung.

Based on the confession, said the Chief of Police, SH acted as a courier. His job was to deliver the marijuana from Gayo Lues Regency to Aceh Tamiang Regency. The perpetrator SH received a salary of IDR 15 million when the marijuana arrived at its destination.

Meanwhile, J who managed to escape acted as a liaison from the seller to the buyer. The marijuana belonged to a person with the initials S domiciled in Gayo Lues Regency.

"The perpetrators of SH have been suspected of bringing marijuana by land from Gayo Lues Regency to be further distributed in other areas depending on the buyer's request", he said.

Before his arrest, he said, the perpetrator SH had delivered 50 kilograms of marijuana from Lokop Village, Serbajadi District, East Aceh Regency, to Peureulak District, East Aceh with a salary of IDR 5 million.

"Now the perpetrator is detained at the Langsa Police Headquarters. The perpetrator is subject to Article 111 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 115 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with life imprisonment or a minimum of six years", he said.
