SULSEL - An Nadzir congregation in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province has celebrated Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijri on Monday, July 19 today. This celebration is a day ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations set by the government.

Members of the An Nadzir congregation perform Eid al-Adha prayers in the courtyard of the Baitul Muqaddis Mosque in Bontomarannu District, Gowa Regency, on Monday morning.

"Today we are holding the Eid prayer, and we are still implementing the COVID-19 health protocol and being escorted by security forces," said the leader of the An Nadzir congregation, Ustaz Samiruddin Padmui, quoted from Antara, Monday evening.

The government has set Eid al-Adha (10 Zulhijah 1442 Hijri) to fall on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

Jamaah An Nadzir believes that the 10th of Zulhijah 1442 Hijri will coincide with July 19, 2021, based on the results of monitoring natural signs such as the condition of the moon and tides on July 14, 15 and 16, 2021.

In addition to performing the Eid prayer, An Nadzir congregation slaughtered three sacrificial cows and distributed the meat to members of the congregation.

"We distribute the sacrificial meat to the entire congregation, if there is any left, it is distributed to the community around the lodge," said Samiruddin.

The An Nadzir congregation also determined 1 Shawwal 1442 Hijri using their method and celebrated Eid on 12 May 2021, a day earlier than the Eid celebration time set by the government, 13 May 2021.
