Sindir Anies Baswedan, Eko Kuntadhi: 2022 Dropped In Position But Hundreds Of Billion Money For Formula E Unclear

JAKARTA - The International Automotive Federation (FIA) as the manager of Formula E in New York, United States (US), has released a provisional calendar for the implementation of Formula E in 2022. However, Jakarta is not on the list of Formula E organizers that year.

In fact, to bring this event to the capital city, the DKI Provincial Government has poured quite a bit of money. In a report issued by the BPK as of June 19, 2020, it was noted that Anies Baswedan had paid a commitment fee to Formula E Operations Limited (FEO) and a Bank Guarantee of almost Rp. 1 trillion.

In detail, there is a commitment fee paid in 2019 worth Rp360 billion. Furthermore, in 2020, the commitment fee paid is equivalent to IDR 200.3 billion. Then, the Bank Guarantee that was paid was Rp. 423 billion.

The entire cost of financing the electric-powered car racing event, which has been prepared since 2019, is even from DKI APBD funds.

Social Media Activist Eko Kuntadhi said, apart from the absence of Jakarta in the organizers' calendar, in 2022 Anies Baswedan's term of office will end.

There is no guarantee that the acting (Plt) replacement for Anies will continue this event. Because even if it is done, the provincial government will have to spend more money. For example for road repairs, building spectator stands and so on.

"So the question is when we have just woken up in 2022 from COVID, will the Acting Governor of Jakarta want to waste money on an event that is only held for a day or two but is it wasteful to ask for forgiveness?" Eko said, quoted from the CokroTV Youtube channel, Wednesday, July 14.

Unfortunately, the commitment fee that has been handed over by Jakarta to the organizers does not have a guarantee to be returned if this car event is not held. Meanwhile, Jakarta is gasping for funds to tackle COVID-19.

"If the term of office expires, the Formula event is not held in Jakarta, this will certainly make Anis in a quandary. Almost Rp1 trillion has been disbursed, but until the end of his term it is not clear how the event will be or how the activities will be carried out,"

"This is what makes Anies dizzy all around and maybe his forehead has been crooked a lot," said Eko.

Separately, the Corporate Secretary of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Nadia Diposanjoyo admitted that his party was still waiting for directions from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan and the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government regarding the absence of Jakarta's name in the calendar of the 2022 Formula E organizers.

"We are still waiting for directions from the provincial government. All parties are still coordinating to get the best," said Nadia when confirmed, Wednesday, July 14.

Moreover, said Nadia, the schedule issued by the International Automotive Federation (FIA) as the manager of Formula E in New York, United States (US), is still temporary.

Currently, Nadia admits that Jakpro is still helping the government to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital, which is currently surging.

"The current Formula E schedule is still provisional. Which means it is still temporary. Jakpro is currently helping the provincial government focus on handling COVID-19. Meanwhile, Nadia said.
