JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo will launch as many as 300 thousand free medicine packages for COVID-19 sufferers this week.

"The President will launch the free medicine package this week", said Spokesman of Ministry of Communication and Information, Dedy Permadi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.

Dedy explained that the drug packages will be distributed free of charge and gradually to people with COVID-19 who have mild and asymptomatic (OTG) symptoms.

The drug package will be provided by PT Kimia Farma Tbk with the support of the TNI. Meanwhile, the distribution of the packages will be carried out by the Village/Ocean/Airspace Development Officers (Babinsa) and the Community Security and Order Trustees Bhayangkara (Bhabinkamtibmas) in coordination with the local public health officials.

Previously, the government had collaborated with 11 private telemedicine services to provide free services to COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms who underwent self-isolation.

There are 11 digital health consulting services that work with the government, namely Alodokter, Getwell, Good Doctor, Halodoc, Klik Doctor, KlikGo, Healthy Link, Milvik Dokter, ProSehat, SehatQ, and YesDok.

The telecommunication application can be accessed free of charge by the public who need a doctor's consultation to obtain correct guidance regarding the consumption of drugs or vitamins when doing self-isolation at home.

In addition, these 11 telemedicine services also provide drugs under the direction of the Ministry of Health. Even COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms do not need to queue to go to the hospital and can get timely access and medical services.
