JAKARTA - The Extraordinary Railway Operations (KLB) were extended until 7 June 2020. Previously, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) operated the KLB during the COVID-19 period only until today.

VP of Public Relations of KAI, Joni Martinus, said that the extension of the KLB was in accordance with the issuance of a Circular of the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation No UM.006 / A.518 / DJKA / 20 dated 29 May 2020.

"We aim to extend the operation of this KLB to serve people who are excluded in accordance with the regulations (PSBB) from the government," said Joni in a statement received by VOI, Sunday, May 31.

Joni continued, KLB still operates 6 trips serving 3 routes, namely Gambir-Surabaya Pasarturi Lintas Selatan pp, Gambir-Surabaya Pasarturi Lintas Utara pp, and Bandung-Surabaya Pasar Turi pp.

"Starting June 1, the KLB trip from the direction of Surabaya will only operate every odd date, and the KLB from the direction of Jakarta and Bandung will operate every even date," he said.

To buy an KLB ticket, passengers are still required to bring all the requirements according to SE COVID-19 Task Force Number 5 of 2020 plus a DKI Jakarta Exit and Entry Permit (SIKM) for prospective passengers leaving or entering the DKI Jakarta Province.

"Ticket sales are only carried out at departure stations from D-2 departure and cannot be represented," he said.

Furthermore, KAI limited the capacity of KLB passengers by selling only 50 percent of the seats from the train capacity. KAI also makes queue limit signs and markers on seats at stations and trains to implement physical distancing.

"We hope that the community will be helped by the KLB trip. We will also continue to evaluate the operation of this KLB service," said Joni.

For information, KLB is provided to meet the travel needs of the community as permitted by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19.

Those who may use the outbreak are health, defense and security service workers, economic function services, emergency medical trips for seriously ill or dead patients, and the immediate family of accompanying patients.

Then, Indonesian citizens who return from abroad, such as students, migrant workers, food suppliers, and ship crews (ABK) are also allowed to use this transportation service.

In addition, government officials such as the State Civil Service, TNI, Polri, BUMN employees, business institutions, entrepreneurs, and non-governmental organizations are allowed to use KLB, as long as their activities are still related to handling COVID-19.

1. Gambir - Surabaya Pasarturi pp (north crossing)

a. Series: 4 executive trains and 4 economy trains

b. Capacity for sale: 264 seats

c. Passenger boarding / alighting stations: Gambir, Cirebon, Semarang Tawang, Surabaya Pasarturi

d. The farthest distance fare: executive Rp. 750,000 and economy Rp. 400,000

2. Gambir - Surabaya Pasarturi pp (south crossing)

a. Series: 4 executive trains and 4 economy trains

b. Capacity for sale: 264 seats

c. Passenger boarding / alighting stations: Gambir, Yogyakarta, Solo Balapan, Surabaya Pasarturi

d. The farthest distance fare: executive Rp. 750,000 and economy Rp. 450,000

3. Bandung - Surabaya Pasarturi pp

a. Series: 3 executive trains and 3 economy trains

b. Capacity for sale: 198 seats

c. Passenger boarding / alighting stations: Bandung, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Surabaya Pasarturi

d. The farthest distance fare: executive Rp. 630,000 and economy Rp. 40,000
