Bulukumba, South Sulawesi Floods And Landslides, Dozens Of Cows Are Dragged By River Currents

JAKARTA - Floods and landslides that hit Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. This disaster was caused by heavy rain.

The Head of the National Agency for Disaster Management Data Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, explained that the river in Bulukumba overflowed and caused dozens of cattle, such as cattle, to be dragged by the river.

"Floods and landslides in Bulukumba resulted in as many as 57 cows being swept away by river currents, with details of 23 cows found dead and 34 cows still being searched", said Muhari in his statement, Thursday, July 8.

The Bulukumba Regional Disaster Management Agency reported that the hydrometeorological disaster resulted in two houses being heavily damaged due to being swept away by the current in Bonto Bangun Village, Rilau Ale District. Then, a suspension bridge in Sopa Village, Gantarang District, was cut off.

Not only that, two irrigation embankments in Rilau Ale District were damaged. Two bridges in Taammaona Village, Kindang District collapsed under the current of the river, resulting in access to connecting the two villages unable to be passed by vehicles.

"The flood also submerged 10 hectares of rice fields and 40 hectares of gardens on the Bijawang River with a total loss of IDR 404 million", said Muhari.

"Furthermore, 60 hectares of rice fields and 30 hectares of gardens on the Kirasa Riverbanks were also affected by floods with total losses ranging up to 1.1 billion", he added.

The flood submerged five villages and two sub-districts which include Bontobangung Village, Batu Karopa Village, and Palampang Village in Rilau Ale District, Tamaona Village in Kindang District, Bonto Bulaeng Village in Bulukamba District, Bukit Harapan Village in Gantarang District, and Dannuang Village in Ujung Loe District.
