5 Days Of Emergency PPKM, Police Record 208 Violations Regarding Drugs And Oxygen

JAKARTA - The National Police recorded 208 cases of violations during the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). Hundreds of cases were related to the availability of drugs and oxygen.

"Based on the data collected by Gakum 6 Aman Nusa II for the period 3-7 yesterday, the activities carried out were investigations of 208 investigation activities, the targets were drug stores, pharmacies, drug distribution, and oxygen distribution related to the handling of COVID-19," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, July 8.

In addition, the Regional Police also investigated hundreds of minor crimes during the Emergency PPKM. There are also those that are resolved by restorative justice.

"Then there are 18 criminal offenses, 103 minor criminal offenses, and 3 restorative justice activities," said Ramadhan.

Especially for criminal acts, continued Ramadhan, most occurred in Jakarta. Polda Metro Jaya currently handles approximately 10 cases.

"Investigations of criminal acts were carried out by the Metro Police regarding Law No. 4 1984 concerning disease outbreaks where activities were carried out, namely, spas, karaoke, cafes, and places of business," he said.

"Polda Metro is 4 cases related to violations of Article 215 of the Criminal Code concerning Disease Outbreaks, the Consumer Protection Law," continued Ramadhan.

Previously, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered his staff to take firm action against entrepreneurs who stockpiled drugs and medical devices during the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, confirmed the order. The order was stated in the Telegram Letter numbered ST/173/VII/HUK/7.1./2021 dated July 3, 2021.

"It's true, the National Police fully supports the implementation of the Java-Bali PPKM from July 3 to 20," Komjen Agus told reporters on Sunday, July 4.

The emergence of the order, continued Agus, aims to ensure that all medicines and medical equipment are available. So, there is no turmoil that only has a bad impact on society.

"Strict law enforcement against actions that hinder all government efforts in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak," he said.
