TNI-Police Called Amien Rais Not Involved In FPI Troops Shooting, Mahfud MD: This Means That It Is Not A Serious Human Rights Violation

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, appreciated Amien Rais' statement that the TNI and Police were not involved in the shooting of six Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) troops on the KM 50 Cikampek Toll Road.

Amien made this statement when he announced the findings of the FPI Troops Homicide Guard Team (TP3) on Wednesday, July 7.

"Thank you, Mr. Amien, for your sportsmanship in announcing the findings of TP3 regarding the killing of 6 FPI Troops, that there is no TNI-POLICE involvement", he wrote on the Twitter account @mohmahfudmd quoted Thursday, July 8.

In this way, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court considers that the allegations of gross human rights violations that are often conveyed in this incident have fallen. This is because gross human rights violations usually involve the apparatus and are carried out in a structured and systematic manner.

"This means that the incident was not a gross violation of human rights but an ordinary crime. Serious human rights violations involved the apparatus in a structured and systematic way", he said.

Mahfud added that when TP3 and President Joko Widodo met some time ago, it was actually explained that there was no evidence of gross human rights violations by the National Police for the deaths of six FPI Laskars in December 2020.

It's just that, at that time it was stated that if TP3 had other evidence, then the government was ready to follow up on findings that indicated gross human rights violations.

"If TP3 has evidence of gross human rights violations, the government will follow up by Law 26/2000. It turns out that there is no evidence. Thanks to TP3", he said.

At a press conference yesterday, TP3 official Amien Rais admitted that the TNI and Police were not involved in the deaths of six FPI Troops on the KM 50 Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in December 2020.

He conveyed this when he launched the 'White Book' which contains data and facts related to the murder incident of six FPI Troops.

"After reading it well, institutionally, this is important, the police and the TNI are not involved in the scenario in the implementation of these gross human rights violations. Alhamdulillah, we are grateful", said Amien.

Amien is grateful and considers this to be encouraging news for the people of Indonesia. He then asked that the current legal process be completed transparently so that the perpetrators and masterminds of the murders could be charged with the maximum sentence.

"We need openness and honesty and the legal process as transparent as possible. So that all this time, this case of Human Rights violations, which has been made dim by certain parties, is expected to disappear by itself, this will not happen", said Amien Rais.
