REJANG LEBONG - Police officers from the Rejang Lebong Resort, Bengkulu, arrested a suspect in the sexual abuse of children under five years old (toddlers) in the area.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rejang Lebong Police, AKP Rahmat Hadi Fitrianto, accompanied by the Head of PPA Aiptu Dessy Oktavianti, said that the suspect in the case had the initials MH (52), a resident of Selupu Rejang District. While the victim is his own neighbour.

"The suspect MH is still under investigation by officers, where the suspect's actions were discovered after a report from the victim's parents to the police stated that their child had been a victim of sexual abuse by the perpetrator," said Dessy at the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7 .

He explained that the lewd act by the suspect MH, who was a widower, was committed to a 4-year-old child twice. The suspect did this at his home at a different time.

The suspect's modus operandi, he said, was to give Rp2,000 to the victim, and then the suspect held and played with the victim's genitals.

For his actions, the suspect MH was snared by investigators for violating Article 76e in conjunction with Article 82 of the Child Protection Law with a threat of 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, when questioned by reporters, suspect MH admitted that he had made an obscene act against the victim and admitted that he was ready to take responsibility for his actions.

"I made a mistake, because my lust is unbearable. I have been a widower for a long time, because I have been divorced twice," he said briefly.
