JAKARTA - The Aceh COVID-19 Task Force, Monday, said that an additional seven people infected with the coronavirus in the province died, bringing the total number of deaths to 832 people.

"The number of COVID-19 patients who died has increased by seven more in the last 24 hours in Aceh, then 21 people recovered and 34 new positive cases," said Aceh COVID-19 Spokesperson Saifullah Abdulgani in Banda Aceh, reported by Antara, Monday, July 5.

He said the addition of seven COVID-19 patients who died included two residents of Pidie District and Banda Aceh City respectively, as well as one resident of Langsa, Aceh Jaya, and Central Aceh.

Meanwhile, the 21 recovered COVID-19 patients are 11 Pidie residents and 10 Banda Aceh residents. Meanwhile, dozens of new cases were added in Banda Aceh with 14 people, Aceh Besar six people, Pidie four people, Aceh Barat and Aceh Utara two people.

"Furthermore, the residents of Aceh Jaya, Nagan Raya, and the City of Lhokseumawe are both one person and the other three are residents outside the Aceh area," he said.

Accumulatively, COVID-19 cases in Aceh have reached 19,605 people, of which 3,539 people are still being treated or in self-isolation, 15,234 have recovered and 832 have died.

He explained that the transmission of the coronavirus still continued to occur in the Tanah Rencong community, as evidenced by the daily reports of the COVID-19 Task Force in districts/cities regarding additional cases.

Moreover, he said, the results of monitoring health protocols (prokes) in Aceh showed that mask wearers were below the national average. Compliance with wearing masks in Aceh in the past week was 8.19 percent while the national level was 88.61 percent.

Meanwhile, the level of compliance with social distancing and avoiding crowds in Aceh is around 89.34 percent, while the national average is 87.54 percent.

“Prokes compliance in Aceh has improved, but compliance with wearing masks is still below the national average. Compliance with maintaining distance and avoiding crowds in Aceh is better, above the national average, than compliance with wearing masks," he said.

However, his party continues to monitor the implementation of community progress in settlements, public roads, restaurants, shops, tourist attractions, public sports halls, malls, terminals, offices and schools, in every district/city in an effort to reduce the rate of additional cases.
