Many Health Workers Exposed, Bandung Hospital Stops COVID-19 Services In The Emergency Room

JAKARTA - The Bandung City Regional General Hospital (RSUD) temporarily closed services for COVID-19 patients at the Emergency Room (IGD) as of Friday, July 2. This was done as the number of patients increased.

The hospital announced the news via their social media accounts. There are limited facilities and infrastructure, they wrote in the statement. "So for the safety of patients at the Bandung City Hospital, we inform you that the COVID-19 special ER service is closed," they wrote.

Even so, the hospital continues to provide health services for non-COVID-19 emergency rooms. The closure takes effect from 00.00 WIB on July 2 until an undetermined time.

Bandung Mayor Oded M Danial confirmed this. He was told that the hospital was overwhelmed with handling COVID-19 patients. The hospital also reported that many health workers were exposed to the corona virus.

"Yesterday, several hospitals, Edelweiss, Cibabat, Majalaya, continued this morning (Bandung City Hospital) saying that they were already heavy. It's not just that the hospitals are full of patients, plus the health workers who are also exposed," said Oded, Friday , July 2nd.

Oded responded to this condition by mobilizing the Regional Secretary and the Bandung City Health Office. In addition to the number of health workers who were exposed, the hospital also experienced delays in the distribution of oxygen. This, said Oded, has become a serious concern for the government.

"Yesterday's oxygen problem was also reduced because the cars went to Jakarta first. Last night it was already low, God willing, it's running smoothly again. The oxygen stock is safe, only yesterday the problem was managerial," Oded.
