JIExpo PRJ Kemayoran Prepared To Be A Place To Care For COVID-19 Patients

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that his party is preparing the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran or Jakarta Fair (PRJ) arena to be a place to treat COVID-19 patients.

Anies said that JIExpo was prepared to deal with the surge in COVID-19 cases that occurred in the capital in the last few days.

"We are now making additional shelters, including at JIExpo which can accommodate 24 thousand people", Anies said as quoted by Antara, Friday, July 2.

In addition to JIExpo Kemayoran, which is usually used as a venue for exhibitions to concerts on an international scale, Anies also provides a place to isolate COVID-19 patients in five administrative cities and the Thousand Islands Regency.

Anies said the shelters were prepared so that no COVID-19 patients were stranded.

"Each area is prepared to accommodate 5,000 people. We don't want if exposed to be unprotected, not served. Bring it, deliver it, we will prepare it", said Anies.

Moreover, the bed occupancy rate (BOR) of the COVID-19 referral hospital has reached 93 percent and active cases (being treated and isolated) in DKI Jakarta have also reached 78,394.

Anies said the figure of 78,000 active cases was the highest during the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2, 2020.

"Today we have 78 thousand active cases. The highest we ever had in Jakarta was 27 thousand last February. Now it is 78 thousand", he said.

If this continues, Anies predicts, the number of active cases will reach 100 thousand cases in the next few days.

Therefore, Anies invites the entire community to participate in the success of the Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) program which will be implemented from July 3 to 20, 2021.

"All components must step in. During the restrictions, there will be difficulties, economic difficulties, food difficulties, let's help each other", he said.
