COVID-19 Cases Rise Again In India, These Are New Symptoms And Variants Found

JAKARTA India has experienced another spike in COVID-19 cases. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India reported a significant increase, with 391 new cases in the last 24 hours as of Saturday, June 7, 2025. The number of active cases has now reached 5,755 people.

In the same period, four patients were reported to have died from COVID-19 infection. All are known to have comorbidities, such as thyroid disorders and respiratory problems.

This spike was also triggered by the emergence of a number of new variants of the corona virus, including LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and subvariant NB.1.8.1. Infected residents generally complain of respiratory symptoms ranging from mild to severe.

Two female patients aged 66 and 50 who were treated at the Manipal Broadway Hospital showed symptoms of fever and respiratory problems. Both have congenital diseases, so they must receive intensive treatment after being confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"We detected this case after almost a year of no finding. With its re-increase, we recommend testing for symptomatic patients who have comorbidities," said microbiologist Shelly Sharma Ganguly, quoted from the Times of India, Sunday (8/6/2025).

In response, a number of hospitals in India have started re-testing patients showing symptoms of COVID-19. The main focus is patients with SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) and ILI (Ifluenza Like Illness) symptoms, especially those with certain health conditions.
