Funeral procession for the victims of the KMP Yunicee (IST) sinking

DENPASAR - Two victims who died in the sinking of KMP Yunicee in Gilimanuk, Bali, were buried.

Sobs colored the funeral of two teenagers who were brothers, namely Alifiah Putri Sugiarti (19) and Bagas Putra Sugiarto (17) at the Bugis Sidakarya Cemetery, Denpasar, Bali.

Sibro Ali, who is the cousin of the victim, is in shock and does not believe in the disaster. "We were shocked because they both left immediately", he said.

Sibro explained that Alifiah Putri Sugiarti and Bagas Putra Sugiarto went with their father and mother to Jember, East Java for a vacation.

Then on Tuesday, June 29, they returned to Denpasar by car with one driver. They crossed using KMP Yunicee to Bali.

However, when the ship was queuing up to drop off passengers, the ship suddenly sank. One family was also drowned.

Mother and father survived, while Alifiah Putri Sugiarti and Bagas Putra Sugiarto died. While the driver drowned and is still not found.

"At the time of the incident, his mother and father survived, while Alifiah and Bagas died", he said.

Ali said the family did not have any inkling regarding the departure of Alifiah and Bagas.

"But after that incident, their grandmother (the victim) got the news that my cousin and his parents were victims of the sinking ship. I myself got the news around 4 a.m", he added.

Meanwhile, the victim's father, Sugianto (42) could not hold back his tears during the funeral procession.
