KMP Yunicee Drowning, Nurul Lost 3 Family Members, 2 People Died

BANYUWANGI - Nurul (30) feels deeply saddened. This Tegaldlimo resident visited the KMP Yunicee emergency response post at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java.

Nurul continues to search for information about three of his family members who have not been found. Meanwhile, two other family members have been found dead.

Uncle, aunt and three children called Nurul boarded KMP Yunicee on Tuesday, June 29 to Gilimanuk Bali.

"Auntie has met and the first 14-year-old child met but died," said Nurul, Wednesday, June 30.

According to Nurul, they returned to Bali to work after returning home to Banyuwangi.

"The hope is that under any circumstances it will be found soon," he said.

A total of 7 people died in the sinking of KMP Yunicee in Gilimanuk waters, Bali. The ship was dragged by the current until it sank.

Basarnas Bali collected data on KMP Yunicee carrying 57 people, namely 13 crew, 41 passengers and 3 canteen staff.

KMP Yunicee disembarked from Ketapang Port, Bayuwangi, East Java, on Tuesday, June 29. However, when approaching Gilimanuk Harbor, the current drifted to the south, tilted and immediately sank.

The Indonesian Navy deployed two KRIs to evacuate victims on the KMP Yunicee ship that sank in the waters of the Bali Strait.

The two KRIs deployed were KRI Rigel-933 and KRI Soputan-923. KRI Rigel has the ability to detect underwater.

The Denpasar Lanal Commander, Marine Colonel (F) I Komang Teguh Ardana, said that the alleged cause of the sinking of KMP Yunicee in Gilimanuk was human error or weather and ocean currents.
