Achieved the Target of 1 Million Vaccinations, Jokowi: August We Will Increase Twofold

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciated the achievement of the COVID-19 vaccination, which reached 1.3 million injections on Saturday, June 26.

Jokowi said this achievement was faster than the target he had set, namely 1 million injections per day starting next July.

"I would like to express my appreciation, express my high appreciation for the achievement of 1.3 million vaccinations on Saturday, June 26, so that it is faster than the target of 1 million vaccinations per day which has been set from July 2021", Jokowi said in a video description uploaded on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account, Monday, June 28.

Jokowi said this achievement was possible because of all parties' hard work and cooperation, from the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian National Police, the local government, to state-owned enterprises, and the private sector who helped. In addition, appreciation is also given to people who have run the vaccination program.

Even though the target has been achieved, Jokowi reminded all parties to keep working hard in implementing the COVID-19 vaccination. In fact, the target of 1 million doses of vaccination will be increased to 2 million doses in August.

"I remind that all parties must work hard so that the target of 1 million vaccinations per day is maintained until the end of July and we can double it in August 2021, reaching 2 million doses per day", he said.

Meanwhile, to the public, Jokowi hopes that no one will hesitate to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Moreover, BPOM has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Sinovac vaccine to be given to children aged 12-17 years.

"In suppressing COVID-19, this can only be done with joint efforts. For that I beg you, ladies and gentlemen, all of us not to hesitate to be vaccinated", he said.

In addition, Jokowi reminded the public to stay at home amid the increase in COVID-19 cases and to be disciplined in implementing health protocols.

"Once again I remind you to stay at home if there is no urgent need", he concluded.
