Even Police Prisoners Are Vaccinated, Their Hands Are Still Handcuffed

MALANG - Malang City Resort Police (Polresta) held a COVID-19 vaccination for prisoners. Vaccination aims to minimize the spread of coronavirus.

Malang City Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Budi Hermanto said the vaccination for prisoners was carried out in stages. In the early stages of the vaccine, injections were given to 20 prisoners.

"We are making creative ideas, by vaccinating 20 prisoners, this is the first stage," said Budi, in Malang City, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 28.

Budi explained that currently, the total number of prisoners at the Malang City Police is 100 people. However, for the first stage of the vaccination, it can only be given to 20 prisoners.

According to Budi, in the first phase, only 20 prisoners were declared eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine injection. As for the other prisoners, there are still those who are undergoing treatment because they have comorbidities.

A total of 20 prisoners who received the vaccine injection, continued Budi, were in good health and were new prisoners. His party will also collect data, and coordinate with correctional institutions related to the vaccination.

"There are a total of 100 prisoners, this will be carried out in stages. Some of them are still in high blood pressure, or have recently undergone surgery, or do have a congenital disease," said Budi.

Currently, Malang City Police is encouraging the implementation of vaccinations, including for the general public in an effort to accelerate vaccination, especially in Malang City. The vaccination was carried out at the police stations in the Malang City area.

The COVID-19 vaccination carried out by the Malang City Police is also given to residents of Malang City, East Java, who will take care of a driving license (SIM), through the Arema Police village patrol program.
