82 Percent Of Villages Are Ready To Fight COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Areas and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) said 1,743,343 Village Volunteers Against COVID-19 have been selected. These volunteers will later be tasked with providing education about COVID-19.

PDTT Mendes Abdul Halim Iskandar said, based on the ratio of the number of volunteers in these villages, each volunteer will handle 68 villagers.

"Village volunteers against COVID-19 were formed in 61,670 villages or 82 percent of villages. With 1,743,343 volunteers it shows that the village is ready to take steps to handle COVID-19," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, in Jakarta, Thursday. , May 21.

Abdul Halim said that if you add more volunteers, the number of people handled will decrease, because not all of the village families need treatment. "It means that the handling will be smaller," he explained.

The volunteers have a number of tasks, including providing education to the public about COVID-19, registering data on people who are prone to illness, providing a COVID-19 isolation room in the village and spraying disinfectant and providing a place to wash hands with soap or hand sanitizer in public places.

Then, continued Abdul Halim, they also provide medical devices for early detection, protection and prevention of the spread of the epidemic which is coordinated with the Puskesmas or health workers in rural areas.

"They are also tasked with providing non-medical early detection tools, telephone number information for referral hospitals and ambulances, establishing Village Gate Guard Posts and ensuring there are not large crowds and handling logistics for the benefit of villagers who are undergoing isolation," he said.

In more detail, Abdul Halim explained, the socialization of healthy living was carried out in 54,955 villages or 73 percent of villages. The provision of places to wash hands in public areas has been carried out in 51,375 villages or 69 percent of villages. Then, disinfectant spraying was carried out in 54,239 villages or 72 percent of the villages. Procurement of masks for villagers in 33,087 villages or 44 percent.

"The village funds used for handling COVID-19 are Rp 2.59 trillion," he said.

Abdul Halim said the Village Gate Guard Post was operated 24 hours. This aims to record and examine guests who enter the village, record and check the health of residents who come in and out of the village, check and record villagers who come from overseas, and recommend villagers and those who come from overseas to self-quarantine if they are unwell.

"Village gate guard posts were built in 47,886 villages or 64 percent of villages. There were 766,138 people who had registered a number of migrants. Data collection on sick people in 29,847 villages and 96,055 people who were prone to illness," he explained.

Not only that, Abdul Halim revealed, isolation rooms had also been established in 19,590 villages. Meanwhile, the number of beds in the isolation room was 78,360 units and 179,682 ODP had used this isolation room.
