JAKARTA - The Palu City Government through the Palu COVID-19 Justice Operations Team took firm action by giving a fine of Rp2 million to one of the cafes that was found to be open and operating after 21.00 central Indonesia time.

As reported by Antara, Monday, June 28, the fine was imposed by the justice operations team when conducting a compliance patrol in the implementation of the Palu Mayor's Circular Letter Number 3 of 2021 regarding restrictions on business activities until 21.00 central Indonesia time in the context of preventing the transmission and spread of COVID-19 on Saturday night.

A fine of Rp2 million was imposed on the manager of the Bell Rock Cafe, which is located on Jalan Chairil Anwar, East Palu District so that the policy for the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to suppress COVID-19 cases in Palu runs optimally and effectively.

"The cafe manager continues to open his place of business after 9 p.m. by turning off the outside lights so that activities in the cafe are not visible," said Palu City Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) Head Trisno Yulianto.

He stated that his party had given the Palu Mayor's circular letter to the cafe manager but it was still ignored until he was found to have violated it so that his party was forced to take firm action by giving a cash fine of Rp2 million.

Yulianto emphasized that strict sanctions were given to every manager of cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, spas, malls, shopping centers, and other business places that operate after 21.00 central Indonesia time indiscriminately in order to suppress the surge in COVID-19 cases in Palu City.

"So that not many residents are exposed, the implementation of Micro-Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) through the Palu Mayor's circular letter, by business actors must be implemented strictly," he said.

If the cafe manager is found violating again, his party will temporarily revoke the cafe's business license.

The Palu COVID-19 Justice Operations Team previously also gave a fine of Rp2 million to the manager of the Pizza Hut Restaurant and the Coffee Zone located in Emi Saelan street, South Palu District on Friday night, June 25, which was still operating over 21.00 central Indonesia time.
