Beware Of Bad Weather In Pancaroba For The Next Two Days

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has asked the public to be aware of heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds until Friday, May 22.

Based on the early warning of weather forecasts monitored by BMKG, the area with the most potential to experience bad weather during the transition period is Lampung Province.

The head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati said that the Lampung region was expected to be able to anticipate and prepare for the bad weather forecast so that things would not happen.

"In Lampung Province, it is predicted that there is still the potential for heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, and lightning," said Dwikorita to reporters, Wednesday, May 20 evening.

Not only that, several other areas also have the potential to experience bad weather, namely Aceh, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Jabodetabek, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and Gorontalo.

Furthermore, bad weather has the potential to occur in Central and Eastern Indonesia, such as Gorontalo, North Maluku, Papua and West Papua.

Bad weather disaster

Based on the monitoring of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), several hydrometeorological disasters resulting from bad weather have occurred repeatedly in a number of regions in Indonesia since Tuesday, May 19, early morning.

At least, there were 7 natural disasters that occurred due to the influence of weather anomalies and the transition from winter to summer, or what is commonly called the transition.

The series of disasters included coastal abrasion that occurred in South Aceh Regency, Aceh Province on Tuesday, May 19, with at least 26 families / 82 people affected and as many as 21 houses affected.

Then, flash floods hit four urban villages in three sub-districts in Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra on Wednesday, May 20, at 8:15 WIB. According to a report from the Lubuk Linggau City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the water level at the time of the incident reached 1.5 meters and is now gradually receding.

Furthermore, the flood also submerged at least 1,042 housing units, 4 educational facilities, 2 houses of worship, 1 health facility, 3 office units and 175 hectares of rice fields in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi on Tuesday, May 19 at 01.00 WITA. In reports received until Wednesday, May 20 at 14.00 WIB, the floods persisted with a water level of approximately 60 centimeters.

Floods were also reported to have occurred in East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, to be precise in Pahunga Lodu District on Wednesday, May 20 at 02.00 WITA. The flood caused 2 housing units to be swept away by the floodwaters, flooded 44 other housing units and forced 230 people to flee to the Kaliuda Village Hall.

In addition, the flood also submerged 14 houses and 1 school in Mahanggin Village, Muaradua District, South Oku Regency, South Sumatra Province on Wednesday, May 14 at 14.00 WIB. The flood also inundated 3.5 hectares of rice fields, threatening crop failure.

Other reports came from three villages in Banjar Agung (II) Subdistrict, and one village in Banjar Margo Subdistrict, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province, on Wednesday, May 20, 15.30 WIB. That there has been a tornado and destroyed several residents' houses to the ground. The incident caused 2 residents to die, 5 seriously injured, 1 lightly injured and others fled to relatives or neighbors.

The next report is that a tidal flood with a water level of 1.5 meters submerged Mayangan Village, Legon Kulon District, Subang Regency, West Java Province on Wednesday, May 20, at 17.00 WIB. The Subang District Fire and Disaster Management Quick Response Team said that the incident was triggered by a weather anomaly.

"In this case, BNPB gives an appeal to people in areas with the potential for bad weather to increase their vigilance and prepare everything deemed necessary in order to anticipate the worst," said Head of BNPB's Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Raditya Jati.
